He led the 2004 team to a school-record 28 wins before the 2005 squad broke that mark with 29 victories.
The 1999 DePauw graduate led the 2001 Tigers to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference title and their first appearance in the NCAA Championship in 22 years. Walker earned SCAC Coach of the Year honors in 2001 and his teams have finished first in the SCAC East in 2000, 2001 and 2005. All six of his squads qualified for the SCAC Tournament.
He joined the DePauw staff as an assistant baseball coach in the fall of 1999 and was named interim head baseball coach in mid-March, 2000, taking over for veteran coach Edward Meyer, who was on medical leave from the University.
Walker was a three-year letterman in baseball and set the single-season school record with 79 strikeouts in 1999 on the way to winning 10 games which stands as the second-highest season total by a DePauw pitcher.
The Crawfordsville, Ind., native was a three-year member of the DePauw football team and earned a varsity letter during his senior season as a starter at quarterback and a special teams player.
Walker earned a master’s degree from Indiana State University where he was inducted into Phi Kappa Phi. He also serves as an assistant coach for the DePauw football team and coaches the running backs.
He and his wife, Jana, have a daughter, Kraly.
